A new saloon brings classic cowgirl vibes to Mule Alley in Fort Worth
Sidesaddle Saloon opens in Mule Alley, in Fort Worth, with handcrafted cocktails inspired by historic cowgirls and Texas-style tapas.
Sidesaddle Saloon is the latest project from Sarah Castillo, founder of Taco Heads and Tinie's. Located in the Stockyards area, the saloon pays homage to American cowgirls of yesteryear, such as artist Dale Evans and bronco rider Prairie Rose Henderson, as well as other "strong, fearless women who know how to stand up for themselves," Castillo said in a statement. According to her, the bar aims to be a refined yet relaxed place where everyone feels welcome.
As for the food, Christian Lehrmann, a partner at Sidesaddle, has created a "Texas tapas" menu featuring bison tartare on toasted sourdough bread, Serrano ham with cheese, peppers and pickled vegetables, bacon crackers, cheddar cheese and chives, and deviled eggs with caviar.
Behind the bar, manager Glen Keely has created cocktails that pay homage to the cowgirls of the Old West. Among them are the Prairie Rose, with Old Forester Bourbon'd Texas Tea, raspberry, and rosewater, and the Belle Star, with vodka, mint, strawberry and aloe syrup, lemon, and bitters.
The lounge joins other Mule Alley venues, including chef Marcus Paslay's Provender Hall, New York burger chain Shake Shack, chef Tim Love's upcoming restaurants, and the soon-to-open Second Rodeo Brewing Company.
