A curated list of the best restaurants, taverns, and places to have lunch and dinner on Sundays.

Restaurants

Erba Brusca – Navigli Alice Delcourt delights Milanese palates in this restaurant located on the Navigli canals, just outside Milan. It features a vegetable garden and natural wines. Alzaia Naviglio Pavese 286 02 87380711.

Osteria Brunello – Brera A classy (and not cheap) restaurant with a great Milanese cutlet in Brera. Corso Garibaldi 17, tel. 02 659 2973.

Al Fresco – Savona This large restaurant in the Tortona area boasts a splendid garden, enhanced by the arrival of chef Nicola Delfino. Via Savona 50, Tel. 02 4953 3630.

A Place in Milan – Umbria At Cascina Cuccagna, they play cards, grow spices and aromatic herbs, and eat well, inside and out. Via Privata Cuccagna 2, tel. 02 545 7785.

Ratanà – Isola A small villa that was the flagship of the Porta Nuova new wave. Excellent Milanese and Lombard cuisine, revisited by Cesare Battisti. Here we told you about his splendid cotoletta. Via de Castillia 28, tel. 02 8712 8855.

Rovello 18 – Garibaldi A trusted Milanese restaurant, this solid establishment has been serving up delicious dishes and a relaxed atmosphere in the Brera area for years. A retro atmosphere. Via Tivoli 2, Tel. 02 7209 3709.

Dabass – Porta Romana A cool, designer restaurant with great food. The bar is beautiful. Dabass Milano, Via Piacenza 13. Tel. 02 45371120.

Nebbia – Navigli A contemporary restaurant with a short menu, minimalist decor, and excellent cuisine. Via Evangelista Torricelli, 15, tel. 0282781557.

Ricci Osteria – XXII Marzo A high-quality Apulian restaurant, originally from Ceglie Messapica, which arrived in Milan in 2022. Refined menu and prices ranging from €50 to €70. Not just orecchiette and bombette. Ricci Osteria Milan, Via Sottocorno 27, Tel. +39 02 4970 5612.

Inns and trattorias

San Filippo Neri – Viale Monza An old-fashioned trattoria with a lovely outdoor terrace: authentic dishes and generous portions.

Osteria del Binari – Tortona: A historic restaurant serving traditional Milanese cuisine. Veal cutlet and risotto in a pleasant atmosphere.

Giulio Pane e Ojo – Porta Romana This small restaurant in Porta Romana, serving Roman cuisine (or almost), has been a hit for several years. The atmosphere is what makes it stand out, and it continues to be a hit.

Chinese

The Nine Bowls: Spicy Sichuan cuisine at one of our favorite Chinese restaurants, a modern and minimalist trattoria created by Hujian Zhou, aka Agie, the Bocconi graduate who founded Ravioleria Sarpi, along with chef Wei. The large ravioli and chicken Kongbao are must-tries. Read the full review here.

The Taste of Fog. A modern restaurant, opened by photographer and artist Lampo Wu, serving cuisine from the city of Chongqing, in the Sichuan province. Beautiful location, spicy cuisine, but with a spiciness you wouldn't expect. Reservations here.

Something different

Marcel Boum – Savona A small, ethnic, African-inspired restaurant, created by Gaia Trussardi and Cesare Battisti (Ratanà). Tabbouleh, baba ganoush, hummus, and paper cones in a colorful and fun space with a small outdoor terrace. Marcel Boum Milan, Via Savona, 13; Tel. 3515218173, Website.

Kiosks

Exit Gastronomia urbana – Missori It's a kiosk, but don't expect porchetta sandwiches. The signature dish here is from the great chef Matias Perdomo. Closes at midnight, Piazza Erculea 2, tel. 02.35999080.

Large spaces

Lom Dopolavoro – Monumentale An urban farmhouse, abandoned and renovated, behind the Monumentale. A cocktail bar with vegetarian cuisine in a remote (but still in the city) setting. Lom Dopolavoro, via Galileo Ferraris 1, tel. +39 327 069 8267. Hours: Closed Mondays. Tuesday to Thursday 6:30-midnight, Friday and Saturday 6:30-2am, Sunday 1-10pm.

At lunch

Food Printing – Nolo A shop with natural wines and quality food in the heart of Nolo. Via Dolomiti 1, Milan. Tel. 0283537868.

Natural Wine Shop E/N – Ticinese Enclave by Casa Emergency, a splendid garden, delicious natural wines, and now also Gianmaria Errico's cuisine. Via Santa Croce 19/a, tel. 02 8277 0589.

Vinodromo – Bocconi Wine bar specializing in natural wines. A welcoming and fun place. Via Salasco 21, Tel. 02 3296 0708.

Onest – Susa A beautiful garden in a secluded area, where you can drink excellent natural wines and also enjoy some quality dishes. O|nest Milan, via Gerolamo Turroni 2, tel. 351 857 8998.

Japanese

Iyo – Sempione Not a Japanese restaurant, but the Japanese restaurant in Milan. Michelin-starred and worth a try. Via Piero della Francesca 74, tel. 02 4547 6898.

Pizzerias

Denis's mountain pizza – Moscova. Denis Lovatel's crispy gourmet pizza in Moscova. Denis's mountain pizza in Milan, Via Statuto 16, tel. 375 798 8835.

Pizzium: Excellent Neapolitan pizza. So much so that it's now opening in other locations and cities, including Rome. Via Anfossi, Viale Tunisia, and Via Procaccini.

Cocciuto: A modern pizzeria that makes excellent, high-quality Neapolitan pizza in a relaxed, relaxed atmosphere. Via Melzo, Corso Lodi, and Via Bergognone.
