Bailey Brewing Co., a family-owned Swan Valley brewery with straightforward beer

In Swan Valley, Western Australia, Bailey Brewing Co. is a family business run by a father and his two sons, brewing easy-drinking craft beers.

“People know the kids will have fun and leave you alone while you sit back enjoy some awesome food, nice easy beers and watch some live sport or music depending on what you’re feeling,”

Dan and Steve Bailey, directors of Bailey Brewing Co., want to brew easy-drinking craft beers in their own facility, using local ingredients whenever possible. "The truth is, we just love beer," they sum up.

The idea had been brewing for years: a typical Australian backyard with a large shed dedicated to brewing beer, where the process is simple and the main focus is the pleasure of brewing, drinking and sharing it.

They were pretty confident the place would be a hit with the locals, explains Steve Bailey. "We put a lot of thought into the place to try and make it a place we ourselves would want to go to and come back to," he says.

The venue is designed with families in mind, featuring a baby changing station and a children's play area. Along with sporting events and live music, this has been key to customers returning time and again. "People know the kids will be entertained and left alone while they relax, enjoy a delicious meal, some light beers, and watch sports or live music, depending on what they feel like," says Steve.

Master brewer Damien Bussemaker is a local brewer with over a decade of experience. “Damo,” as he is affectionately known, traces his roots back to the early days of the craft beer movement in Western Australia. His career includes stints at Elmar’s in the Valley, Mash, and later, Ogdens in South Perth, where he was head brewer.

"It's actually quite simple," Steve adds, explaining the restaurant's philosophy. "It's simple, seasonal beer, simple food that everyone can understand, and excellent service."

Good beer, good company, and the joy of sharing both.
