Between the hustle and bustle of daily life, running around, stress, city traffic, and the limited time for cooking, we understand. It's not easy.

We'll start with some key tips and foods to consider

We want to give you some tips, key foods and recipes that you can implement in your daily life to live lighter.

  • Include leafy greens in most of your meals.
  • Add chia seeds to some of your meals; they are a Mexican seed, the queen of omega-3, suitable for weight loss, relieving constipation, lowering cholesterol, and regulating blood sugar.
  • Nopales, a Mexican superfood, are a great ally that reduces inflammation and blood sugar levels.
  • Lentils are an anti-inflammatory food; we recommend eating them. Check out some recipes here on how to prepare them.
  • Reduce your consumption of dairy products; if you are going to consume them, make sure they are sugar-free and low-fat.
  • Include oats in your diet; they're a great anti-inflammatory food and excellent for your heart. Check out these recipes.
  • Consume anti-inflammatory fruits such as: papaya, apple, red berries.
  • Carrots and beets naturally reduce inflammation, thanks to their carotenoids which have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects that could protect against non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
  • Try to avoid frying your food and consuming hydrogenated, inflammatory oils such as corn, safflower, soybean, canola, etc. Replace them with peanut, coconut, or avocado oil.

Sweet potato puree

Preparation time: 30 minutes

6 servings

Ingredients

  • kilo of sweet potato
  • ¼ teaspoon of pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon of nutmeg
  • Salt to taste

First we're going to cook the sweet potato.

The first option is to peel it, cut it into cubes and cook it starting from cold water —like potatoes— in a pot; then let it cool in a colander.

The other cooking method is to bake the sweet potato; this will give it a spectacular caramelized flavor.

  • To do this, wrap the sweet potato in aluminum foil and bake for 45 to 60 minutes at 180°C. Once ready, remove the peel and cut into small pieces to cool.
  • To make the puree, you can use a blender or a food processor. Place the cooked sweet potato pieces in the blender and blend together with the allspice and nutmeg.
  • Continue grinding until you get the texture you want.
  • Serve or store the puree in an airtight container until ready to use.
