Forget the classic herring sandwich: you'll want to taste this deluxe version.
With this recipe, we give our own twist to a classic herring sandwich. Feel free to call it a herring sandwich deluxe; the result is a generous bun with smoked mayo, apple, radish, potato wedges, herring, spring onion, and fried onions. Soooo delicious.
And with that, a bite of this herring sandwich is almost as tasty as a bite of your favorite hamburger. Is that an exaggeration? Not at all.

This is how you make the deluxe herring sandwich.
- Boil the potato slices in plenty of salted water and drain.
- Make the smoked mayo by stirring the mayo and the smoked sea salt together in a small bowl.
- Cut the ciabatta in half. Spread a layer of mayo on both sides.
- Top with a layer of apple slices, potato slices, and radishes. Arrange the herring fillets on top.
- Sprinkle with the spring onion rings and the fried onions and place the top half of the bun on top.
- Cut in half with a sharp bread knife. Tadaaa: 2 deluxe Dutch New Herring rolls, for you and another lucky person.
