French fries with cheese

French fries with cheese

French fries are a beloved classic that can be improved with a little melty cheese. Even if you think this recipe shouldn't be innovated, give this version a chance. After the first bite, you'll understand that a little change is sometimes a good thing!

Ingredients · Servings For 4 people
  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 300 g ham
  • 1 onion
  • 200g cheese
  • 4 eggs
  • 200 ml cooking cream
  • 1 tbsp plain wheat flour
  • 1 pinch cumin
  • 100 g slanina
Method · 1 h 10 min
  1. Wash the potatoes well and boil them in salted water until soft (about 10 minutes or depending on the size of the potatoes). Drain, let cool, peel and cut into thicker slices.
  2. Cut the ham into cubes, finely chop the onion, and coarsely grate the cheese.
  3. Preheat the oven to 200 °C in advance. Beat the eggs with the creamed flour and season with salt, pepper and crushed cumin.
  4. Line the bottom of a baking dish with bacon. Gradually layer the onion, potatoes (lightly salt them), ham and cheese.
  5. Place in an oven preheated to 200°C and bake for 10 minutes, then pour over the egg and cream mixture and bake for another 10–15 minutes.
  6. Serve the finished dish sprinkled with parsley.
