Espresso&CO hosts a cupping session of coffees from Cape Verde
Last Friday (27), the Espresso&CO space hosted a cupping of coffees from the Cape Verde region, an origin that is part of the Geographical Indications of Southwest Minas and the Volcanic Region.
Organized by the Association of Specialty Coffee Producers of Cape Verde (Assprocafé), the event, closed to invited guests, featured 12 lots, including a natural caturra from Sítio Córrego Fundo, a natural arara from Fazenda São Bartolomeu, and a natural arara from Fazenda Sonho Meu. All lots were available for purchase.
“It’s a region that’s still relatively unknown, but it has great potential for quality,” comments Marcos Kim, a specialist in specialty coffees, Q-Grader, and organizer of the event. “It’s located between the Volcanic Region and the Southwest of Minas Gerais. It’s fantastic work that, in addition to quality, highlights sustainable and regenerative management, resulting in very sweet coffees with balanced acidity and, often, floral notes,” he explains.
On Saturday (28), the experience was extended to the public. Throughout the day, three coffees from Cape Verde were available in thermoses for customers of Café Store, a concept store that is part of the Espresso&CO group. In addition to the tasting, the meeting provided an exchange of experiences with the producers and the sale of coffee packages in beans or ground on the spot.
Cape Verdean coffees are available for purchase at the Café Store physical location (Rua Barão de Tatuí, 387 – Vila Buarque – São Paulo) while supplies last.
