OIVE and ICEX promote training on Spanish wines in China
The Spanish Wine Interprofessional Organization (OIVE) and ICEX Spain Export and Investment (ICEX) have signed an agreement (BOE August 27, 2026) to develop a training program on Spanish wines in China aimed at professionals in the sector and consumers interested in the world of wine.
The agreement includes the holding of up to 26 Mandarin-language training programs during 2026 and 2027, combining online courses with in-person tastings. These initiatives will showcase the diversity and excellence of Spanish wines to Chinese opinion leaders, industry professionals, restaurateurs, store managers, and consumers. The maximum budget is €122,910.66, funded equally by both organizations.
This initiative strengthens the collaboration between the Spanish Wine Interprofessional Organization and ICEX in the area of international promotion and continues the framework agreement signed by both entities in November 2024 to promote awareness of Spanish wines in foreign markets.
Programs for professionals
The 'Spanish Wine Specialist' program will be aimed exclusively at wine industry professionals and will combine online sessions with in-person tastings. Each edition will have between 30 and 50 participants and will last eight weeks.
Participants will deepen their knowledge of Spain's main wine regions, their grape varieties, and their different wine styles. After completing the training and passing the final exam, they will be able to obtain a certificate attesting to their knowledge of Spanish wines.
Furthermore, the general public interested in Spanish wines will have access to the 'Spanish Wine Trader Course' program, which will have a minimum of ten participants in each edition.
Its content will offer an overview of the main Spanish wine regions; it will cover red and white grape varieties, as well as sparkling and fortified wines; and will include pairings with Spanish gastronomic products.
