The richness of a destination "impossible to bottle" in the Ribera del Duero
The Ribera del Duero Wine Route consortium is promoting a campaign to consolidate the region as a benchmark for wine tourism in Spain, where it occupies the third position.
The Ribera del Duero region encompasses 92 municipalities spread across Burgos, Segovia, Soria, and Valladolid, and more than 300 wineries are participating in the initiative. The campaign offers visits to iconic wineries, many of them underground, where winemaking processes are explained and wines that reflect the terroir are tasted.
In addition to viticulture, there are cooking workshops with fresh seasonal ingredients and activities that combine wine with beauty treatments in spas, thermal baths and unique accommodations.
The routes explore the area's historical architecture, from medieval castles to Romanesque churches. The region boasts 70 sites declared of Cultural Interest.
Nature is also part of the offering, with picnics in the countryside, hot air balloon flights over the vineyards, and walks or bike rides along trails and estates.
The "Impossible to Bottle" campaign is part of the Destination's Tourism Sustainability Plan, framed within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU. Its aim is for visitors to discover the region beyond wine tastings.
