Nacho Martínez y Eloi Cedo, ganadores de la Cata de Maridajes de Vila viniteca
La decimoquinta edición de la Cata de Vinos en Parejas de Vila Viniteca se celebró en el Casino de Madrid. Los ganadores fueron: Nacho Martínez, de Decántalo, un enólogo vasco afincado en Barcelona, y Eloi Cedo, enólogo de Tivissa (Tarragona), en primer lugar.
The fifteenth edition of Vila Viniteca's Pairs Wine Tasting was held on March 12th at the Casino de Madrid. This year's winners were: Nacho Martínez of Decántalo, a Basque winemaker based in Barcelona, and Eloi Cedo, a winemaker from Tivissa (Tarragona), in first place. Carlos Cerdán, from Albacete, and Paco Senís, from Valencia, both winemakers, took second place with a prize of 7,000 euros. And finally, Slovenian Domen Presern and Canadian Qian Janice, both residents of Denmark, she a university professor and he a podcasting professional, won third place with a prize of 3,000 euros.
As in previous years, the 240 participants, 120 couples, had to answer and correctly identify the country, area of origin, designation of origin, grape varieties, vintage, producer and brand of the wines tasted from the wines presented.
The figures
During the event, 7,600 Riedel glasses were used (2,400 in the competition and the rest in the wine showroom for the public) and 298 bottles were opened. Nearly 1,000 people attended. Attendees sampled 360 kg of more than 65 different cheese varieties from 25 dairies selected by Ardai, and wines from more than 67 wineries were tasted.

The references tasted in the qualifying phase were: Mestres Clos Damiana Gran Reserva Brut Nature 2007, Cava; Bodegas De La Riva Macharnudo Vino de Pasto 2020, Andalucía; Frank Cornelissen Munjebel Bianco 2020, Etna; Casa Castillo Monastrell 2021, Jumilla; Viña Tondonia Gran Reserva 2001, Rioja y Château Cos d'Estournel 2010, Saint-Estèphe.
The references tasted in the Grand Final were: Larmandier-Bernier Vieille Vigne du Levant Grand Cru Extra Brut 2013, Champagne; Marisa Cuomo Furore Bianco Fiorduva 2018, Amalfi Coast; Pazo Barrantes Gran Vino de Guarda La Comtesse 2018, Rías Baixas; Paul Jaboulet Aîné La Chapelle 1991, Hermitage; Mauro 2020, Castile and León; Bodega Aleanna Gran Enemigo 2018, Mendoza y Martí Fabra Masia Pairal Can Carreras Garnatxa d'Empordà, Empordà.
