Arcane Wines, a Milanese wine shop that makes wine tasting accessible
Fabio Cagnetti brings together at Arcane Wines, in Milan, 4,000 bottles accumulated over 25 years of research and a wine list of some 1,700 labels.
Arcane Wines is one of those places that perfectly illustrates the essence of wine in Milan. Its starting point is 4,000 bottles accumulated over 25 years of personal research by its owner, Fabio Cagnetti, which share space with many other labels discovered thanks to his work as a wine seeker.
The wine list features around 1,700 labels, with a strong presence of Italian and French wines, as well as German Rieslings.
The approach views wine as an accessible experience, not an elitist pursuit. Each week there's a tasting of 13 wines, with no repeats throughout the year, and a monthly menu featuring 78 labels. There's also a section dedicated to iconic wines at fair prices.
The culinary offerings are based on essential, contemporary cuisine, prepared with fire and seasonal produce, with a special focus on Mediterranean and Asian recipes that complement the wine without overpowering it. The result is reminiscent of the most captivating French "cave à manger," the wine cellars that double as dining rooms.
