Coffee House Lates returns this week with two nights of food, music and fun
Here’s a nice excuse to leave the sofa after work.
Cork’s coffee shops, cafés and restaurants are getting ready to come alive after dark once again, with the return of Coffee House Lates later this week.
Now in its third year, the event will see independent venues across the city stay open late on Thursday, September 24th, and Friday, September 25th, with everything from live music and poetry to markets, DJs and creative experiences on offer.
Running from around 6pm to 10pm, Coffee House Lates is a chance to enjoy Cork’s café culture in a slightly different way, without the focus being on alcohol.
The initiative was launched in October 2024 in response to demand for more alcohol-free things to do in the evening. It is facilitated by the Cork Business Association in partnership with Cork City Council, with the aim of supporting the city’s growing evening and night-time economy.
With several of the participating venues within walking distance of each other, visitors can also make an evening of it and put together their own Coffee House Lates trail.
Thursday, September 24th
- Kino Event House, Washington Street – Market and Music: An evening market with live music and a lively community atmosphere.
- Moon Child | Matcha Bar – Mocktails & Magical Moments, Carey’s Lane: From 4pm to 8pm, enjoy a pop-up market by Sea Dog, an artsy gift shop, followed by a candlelit evening at Cork Lotus Yoga Studio.
- 115 Café – Live Music at Night: Local musicians will provide the soundtrack from 8pm to 10pm, alongside coffee and conversation.
- Alchemy Coffee Cork – Seiörs Cave: From 5pm to 6.30pm, explore poetry, rune stone crafting and conversations around the role of the Seer in modern Ireland.
- Don Gregorio, Washington Street – Tiramisu After Dark: From 8pm, expect funk and disco from a live DJ, along with tiramisu and coffee. The first 20 people through the door will get free tiramisu.
Friday, September 25
- Sabor Braziil – Coffee House Lates DJ Set: From 8pm to 10pm, enjoy a live DJ alongside Brazilian tapas and Maya’s Coffee.
- SOMA Coffee Company, Tuckey Street – Live music with Ivy Favier: Ivy Favier will perform from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at the Tuckey Street café.
- The Lough Café – Music and Coffee House Lates: An evening of live music, coffee and a welcoming community atmosphere.
- Bakestone Café, Perry Street – Vibes and Verses: A cosy evening of poetry, with the Vibes and Verses open mic bringing local artists together over warm drinks.
- 115 Café – Live Music: Bandjaxed will take to the stage, with live music alongside coffee and conversation.
- Don Gregorio – Tiramisu After Dark: The funk and disco DJ night returns from 8pm, with coffee and tiramisu on offer. Again, the first 20 people will get their tiramisu for free.
Whether you fancy a wander between a few venues, some live music with your coffee or simply want to discover some of Cork’s independent cafés after hours, there should be plenty to choose from.
