Small Batch launches sparkling mead with a pomegranate base
Mudgee's craft brewery and hop farm has teamed up with local producer Aril Estate to produce a limited-edition pomegranate-based sparkling mead.
“This Sparkling Mead is crisp, juicy, lightly tart – and way too easy to drink! It’s the incredible combination of the local fruit, and the local honey – it really is Mudgee in every naughty little bubble.”
Mudgee's craft brewery and hop farm has teamed up with local producer Aril Estate to produce a limited-edition pomegranate-based sparkling mead.
Known for crafting unique, limited-edition beers with locally sourced ingredients, Small Batch's latest creation pays homage to Mudgee's produce. Combining pomegranates grown at Aril Estate with golden canola honey from Mudgee, Small Batch's sparkling fermented mead offers a crisp, tangy, and sweet flavor with an ABV of 5.2%.
Anton Van den Berg, co-founder and master brewer of Small Batch, comments: “This sparkling mead is fresh, juicy, slightly tart, and way too easy to drink! It’s the amazing combination of local fruit and local honey; it really is Mudgee in every mischievous little bubble.”
This new release is available exclusively at Small Batch Brew and Hop Farm, where the microbrewery is surrounded by 40 acres of picturesque farmland, and at the Pipeclay Pumphouse and Gigi's Restaurant locations.
Andrew Hadjichari, co-founder of Aril Estate, added: “We are delighted to see our pomegranates being used in such creative ways. We are at the beginning of our pomegranate season, and this fruit will become even sweeter and more flavorful as the months go by.”
“The limited-production sparkling mead is a celebration of Mudgee’s amazing products; we love seeing local businesses come together to create something truly special.”
This collaboration exemplifies Small Batch's ongoing commitment to showcasing the best of Mudgee's local produce. The brewery previously partnered with local truffle growers OakShade Truffles to infuse a limited-edition vanilla stout with local truffles, and more recently joined forces with Mudgee's small winery 791 Estate to produce Batch 791, a beer brewed with Cabernet Sauvignon and Enigma and Nelson Sauvin hops.
